Connette totaled 325 receiving yards and four touchdowns and Green averaged four kills per set along with 2.43 digs per set.
The University of Minnesota Crookston athletic department announced Adam Connette (Sr., WR, Corona, Calif.) of the football team and Kassi Green (R-Sr., OH, Anoka, Minn.) of the volleyball team, as the UMC Teambackers Student-Athletes of the Month for September. Connette and Green are the first recipients of the award for the 2017-18 athletic season.
Connette had a phenomenal first month of his senior season with 29 catches for 325 yards and four touchdowns thus far. The senior’s best game came with 14 catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns in the “NSIC Thursday Night Game of the Week” Sept. 14 against Wayne State College. He also eclipsed 100 yards receiving with five catches for 107 yards and a touchdown versus Minnesota State. Connette is already the all-time leading receiver at Minnesota Crookston in terms of receptions and receiving yards, amassing 206 receptions for 2,834 yards. Connette needs just five more touchdown receptions to surpass Carl Aho’s all-time mark.
Green has paced the Minnesota Crookston volleyball team through the first 15 matches. The senior has had her best season yet in the Maroon and Gold with 4.00 kills per set and a .178 hitting percentage. In addition, Green is averaging 2.43 digs and 0.37 blocks per set. Green has notched three matches with 20 or more kills, led by a career-high 25 kills in a win over Minot State University Sept. 8. Green tallied 21 kills against South Dakota School of Mines and 22 kills versus University of Sioux Falls.
