The Crookston Pirates earned eight total medals.
The Pirates swimming team competed in their third competition of the season. Last time at a Thief River Falls triangular, Crookston walked away with a large amount of hardware. This time around was no different.
In 10 events, Crookston collected eight medals. In the first event, the 200 meter medley relay, the team of Merran Dingmann, Elizabeth Erdman, Kate MacGregor and Thea Oman placed second and did it in 2:24.29. Crookston had another team in the event that finished in fifth. The relay team was comprised of MacKenzie Aamoth, Makenna Hall, Madison Hoiland and Emma Borowicz.
The relays rounded out with the 200 meter freestyle relay team of Sarah Ryan, Aamoth, Hoiland and Borowicz taking fourth. Dingmann, Erdman, Oman and MacGregor also teamed up again to claim second in the 400 meter freestyle relay.
Individually, Oman took second in the 200 meter freestyle and also in the 100 meter freestyle on her way to four silver medals.
Erdman’s time of 31.34 in the 50 meter freestyle earned her a fourth place. She would finish with two silvers.
MacGregor placed second in the 100 meter butterfly and also took second in the 100 meter backstroke. MacGregor tallied four silvers on the day.
Dingmann was the only Pirate to take home a gold doing so in the 200 meter individual medley with a time of 2:42.96. Hoiland placed fifth in the event. Dingmann finished with one gold and three silvers.
Overall, the team gathered 451 points to put them in third place.
The Pirates will have a few days to rest as they head to Grand Forks to compete in the UND High School Meet on September 16. The events will start at 9 a.m.
**The events were held in a short course 25 meter pool rather than a 50 meter pool. All of high school swimming times are based on yards times. Crookston is the only pool in this section that has a meters-only pool. Therefore, in order to get a better base as to where the girls' times are for these meets, a conversion would be needed.
