BEMIDJI, Minn. – University of Minnesota Crookston men’s golfer Ben Koisti (Jr., Lake Norden, S.D.) shot a three-under-par 69 to tie for the lead at the BSU Invite after the first round at the Bemidji Town and Country Club in Bemidji, Minn. The Golden Eagles are in eighth place in the field but are just four strokes out of seventh place and just 18 strokes out of the lead in a very close field.

BEMIDJI, Minn. – University of Minnesota Crookston men’s golfer Ben Koisti (Jr., Lake Norden, S.D.) shot a three-under-par 69 to tie for the lead at the BSU Invite after the first round at the Bemidji Town and Country Club in Bemidji, Minn. The Golden Eagles are in eighth place in the field but are just four strokes out of seventh place and just 18 strokes out of the lead in a very close field.   

    Koisti put together the best round of his career after shooting 35 on the front nine and 34 on the back nine. He is tied for the lead with Winona State University’s Michael Schmitz. Four players are tied for second place after shooting rounds of 70.   

    Eric Gullicks (Sr., Finley, N.D.) is in a tie for 40th with teammate Ricky Phillips (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.) after shooting a first round score of 80. Connor Humble (Fr., Rosemount, Minn.) turned in a round of 81 on the first day. Ethan Johnson (Jr., Roseau, Minn.) shot 82 on the first round. Ben Lord (So., Brunswick, Maine) shot an 84, while Brady Wright (Fr., International Falls, Minn.) shot an 88.   

    Bemidji State University is in a tie for first place with Winona State University after shooting team scores of 292. The final round of the BSU Invite will take place Tues., Sept. 12.
