ABERDEEN, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-9, 25-6, 25-8) to No. 23 Northern State University Sat., Sept. 9 at Wachs Arena in Aberdeen, S.D. The Wolves hit .422 for the match as they controlled the pace of the night.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-9, 25-6, 25-8) to No. 23 Northern State University Sat., Sept. 9 at Wachs Arena in Aberdeen, S.D. The Wolves hit .422 for the match as they controlled the pace of the night.   

    Northern State improved to 7-1 with the win. They went undefeated in the Max & Erma’s Classic. Minnesota Crookston fell to 3-5 on the season and went 2-2 on the tournament.   

    Minnesota Crookston struggled offensively as they were out of system for much of the match. The Golden Eagles hit -.089 with 14 kills and 22 errors on the match. Kelci Green (R-Sr., MH, Anoka, Minn.) led the way with five kills. Kassi Green (R-Sr., OH, Anoka, Minn.) added four kills, but also had five errors.   

    Minnesota Crookston utilized three setters in the match. Kaycie Hagen (Sr., S, Savage, Minn.) led the way with seven assists. Sydney Kruisselbrink (Fr., S, Rochester, Minn.) added five assists, while Alex Oakes (R-So., S, Cloquet, Minn.) added one assists.   

    Defensively, the Golden Eagles looked to 11 digs from Maggie Perrel (R-Sr., OH/DS, New Germany, Minn.) On the block, Kelci Green paced the team with two block assists.   

    Northern State hit .429 on the match with 41 kills and five errors. Hailey Busch led the Wolves with nine kills and it .310. Morgan Baufield added eight kills, while Laura Snyder chipped in seven kills. At setter, Ashley Rozell had 34 assists.   

    Northern State got out to a 10-3 lead in the first set following a kill from Holly Vancura. The Wolves extended their lead to 19-6 off of a service ace. The Wolves took the first set 25-9 following a block from Reiff and Snyder.   

    The Wolves got out to the early 4-1 lead after a Reiff kill. Northern State extended their advantage to 12-2 following a Snyder kill. Northern State continued to control the second set and took the win 25-6.       

    Northern State raced out to a 9-0 advantage following a Kaitlin Sikkink (R-So., MH, St. Charles, Minn.) attack error. Minnesota Crookston got their first point of the set on a Sydney Kruisselbrink kill. The Wolves extended their lead to 17-3 on a Busch service ace. Northern State took the set 25-8 and the match 3-0.       

    Kassi Green earned placement on the All-Max & Erma’s Classic Team after a strong performance on the weekend, including back-to-back 20 kill performances against Minot State University and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.   

    The Golden Eagles enter NSIC play Thurs., Sept. 14 at No. 7 University of Minnesota Duluth.
