BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's golf team was picked to finish 12th in the inaugural Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll released Wed., Aug. 23 by the conference office.
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women’s golf team was picked to finish 12th in the inaugural Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women’s Golf Preseason Coaches’ Poll released Wed., Aug. 23 by the conference office.
Augustana University, the eight-time defending NSIC Champion, was picked to finish first in the poll with 11 first-place votes at 121 overall points. Minnesota State University-Mankato was slotted second with 107 points and one first-place vote.
Emily Israelson of Augustana was picked as the NSIC Preseason Golfer of the Year. Israelson is the reigning NSIC Golfer of the Year.
The University of Minnesota Crookston women’s golf team is in their first year under the leadership of Bryant Friskop. The Golden Eagles return three student-athletes from last season led by Ashlee Humble (Sr., Rosemount, Minn.). Humble tied for 29th at the NSIC Championship last season. She posted an average of 87.4 for the Golden Eagles. Humble was picked as the Athlete to Watch for Minnesota Crookston.
The U of M Crookston also returns McKenzie Harris (Jr., Nevis, Minn.), Natasha Maninga (Sr., Menagha, Minn.). They have added a pair of freshman to the fray this season with Michaela Anderson (Fr., Grafton, N.D.) and Megan Ryan (Fr., Oconto, Wis.).
The Golden Eagles open up the season Sept. 11-12 at the Tracy Lane Memorial in Bemidji, Minn.
