He won $5,000 in prize money
Travis Ross of Crookston’s nine under par final score after the three-round Minnesota State Open golf tournament this past weekend was good enough for a third place tie and $5,000 in prize money.
Sponsored by Treasure Island Resort & Casino, the tournament was played July 21-23 at StoneRidge Golf Club in Stillwater.
Ben Greve of Minneapolis, husband of the Minnesota Lynx’s Lindsay Whalen, defended his 2016 title by winning again with a score of -15.
Ross shot -3 in each of the three rounds for a total score of 207. It was his second best score as a professional.
More than 150 golfers competed in the Minnesota State Open, with 63 making the cut.
