Members of the Crookston Pirates golf teams prepare to make a run for an individual title this week on the state’s biggest performing stage.


    Pirate junior Ally Tiedemann and seniors Maddie Nicholls and Dane Anderson qualified last week to compete at the Minnesota State High School League Class AA individual golf tournament held at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn. The tournament is scheduled to take place Tuesday, June 13 and Wednesday, June 14.


    Anderson qualified for state with a third-place finish at the Section 8AA meet with a score of 153. Last year, Anderson finished in a tie for 45th place with a 159 at state.


    Anderson is scheduled to tee off at approximately 8:51 a.m. on hole No. 10 with  Drew O’Hern (St. Paul Academy), Esten Stensrud (Minnewaska) and Michael Uhas (Mound Westonka).


    Last year, sophomore Derek Hitchner of The Blake School in Hopkins won the Class AA Individual title with a 134. Hitchner is scheduled to tee off this year at 8:15 a.m. on Hole No. 1.


    Tiedemann tied for inidividual honors in the Section 8AA meet with Detroit Lakes’ Maddie Herzog with a 156. Last year, Tiedemann finished in a tie for sixth place with Detroit Lakes’ Abby Schramel with a 158.


    Tiedemann is scheduled to tee off at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Hole No. 1 with Ana Schwarz (Marshall), Morgan Kranz (Sauk Centre) and Alex Stone (Pequot Lakes).


    Nicholls qualified fot state with a sixth-place finish at sections with a 166. Last year, she tied for 50th place with a 184.


    Nicholls is scheduled to tee off at approximately 1:21 p.m. on Hole No. 1 with Shiori Legate (Morris Area), Anna Amos (St. Peter) and Grace Hillemeier (Byron).


    Last year, Detroit Lakes senior Kate Smith and Visitation junior Anni Heck took Class A Individual honors with a 139. This year, Heck returns and is scheduled to tee off at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Hole No. 1.
