Crookston High School athletic coaches select Pirates of the Week for baseball, boys and girls golf, boys and girls track and tennis.
Crookston High School Pirates coaches Jeff Perreault, Steve Kofoed, Amy Boll and Wayne Folkers select student athletes to be featured as Pirates of the Week. For the week of June 5-9, the Crookston Daily Times features the tennis team, Thea Oman, Hayden Winjum, Emma Borowicz, Katherine Geist and Aleece Durbin (girls track), Dane Anderson (boys golf), Ally Tiedemann and Maddie Nicholls (girls golf) and Cade Salentine and Mason Wang (boys track).
Boys golf head coach Steve Kofoed says: “Dane will be making his second trip to the state tournament next week in Jordan. We will be looking to improve on his 45th place finish. Dane has the game to finish in the top 10 when he puts it all together.”
Boys track and field head coach Wayne Folkers says: “(Cade and Mason) are returning to state as individuals instead of teams. They have both had a good season so far and I’m looking forward to watching them this weekend.”
Boys tennis head coach Mike Geffre says: "Huge team effort to beat Fridley 4-3. Great contributions from everyone. Every match competitive. Kids made me proud and were fun to watch how hard they competed.” Photo credit: Chris Free, KROX
