The Crookston Pirates boys and girls track and field teams participated in the Section 8A True Team meet Tuesday afternoon in Park Rapids, where the girls finished third overall out of 17 teams and the boys finished fifth out of 16.

    The girls squad tallied 952.5 points in the meet behind Park Rapids (966) and Roseau (931).

    The boys squad accumulated 680.5 points to finish behind Norman County (959), Roseau (841), Park Rapids (827) and West Marshall (733).

    Aleece Durbin led her squad with two first-place finishes in the long jump (16 ft, 2 in.) and in the 100-meter hurdles (16 seconds). Teammate Hayden Winjum also took a first-place finish in the 800-meter run at 2:32.33.

    Mason Wang led the boys team with two first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (11.31 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (23.71 seconds).

    Katherine Geist took second in the 800-meter run (2:33.49) and the 1600-meter run (5:44.15).

    Brita Fagerlund took second in the discus throw (109 ft., 1 in.) while Jaden lubarski took second in the 800-meter run (2:09.15).
