UMC drops NSIC matchups.

The University of Minnesota Crookston men’s basketball team looked to get back on the right track last weekend against a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponents.

However the final outcomes fell against UMC’s favor as the squad dropped an 85-80 overtime loss to Northern State University Friday in Aberdeen, S.D. and a 103-68 loss to Minnesota State Univeristy-Moorhead Saturday.

The Golden Eagles connected on 28-of-74 (37.8 percent) in field goals and 18-of-26 (69.2 percent) in free throws against Northern State, while the Wolves made 29-of-69 (42 percent) in field goals and 21-of-29 (72.4 percent) from the charity stripe.

The Golden Eagles faced a similar outcome on Saturday as they shot just 25-of-61 (41 percent) from the field and 12-of-20 (60 percent) from the free-throw line against MSUM.

Rallying behind five double-digit scorers, MSUM compiled 42-of-71 (59.2 percent) in field goals and 7-of-11 (63.6 percent) from the charity stripe.

Along with Northern State’s loss to Bemidji State University and Southwest Minnesota State’s loss to Augustana University, MSUM earned a share of both the North Division and overall NSIC championships.

The Golden Eagles return to action for its final two games of the regular season Friday and Saturday at Lysaker Gym. The Golden Eagles will take on the Minot State University Beavers at 8 p.m. Friday and the University of Mary Marauders at 6 p.m. Saturday.
