Reinhart gets two goals in Friday win at CSC.

The Crookston Pirates boys' hockey team defeated Fergus Falls 4-2 Friday night at Crookston Sports Center in a tight, tense game that wasn't sealed until senior Dane Anderson flipped the puck into an empty net from his side of the red line with around 30 seconds left, after the Otters, already on a power play with senior Ethan Christopherson in the box for cross-checking, pulled their goalie for a 6 on 4 advantage.

The Pirates started the game slow, and when they gave up an early goal, Head Coach Josh Hardy used his only timeout of the game to challenge his players to wake up and play with more intensity. The Pirates rallied a bit, but were still down 1-0 after 1. In the second period, the Pirates were lifted by senior Tanner Reinhart, who took a feed from Christopherson and launched a seeing-eye wrist shot that sailed into the net over the left shoulder of the stunned Otter goalie and tied the game at 1. Soon after junior Ethan Magsam put a shot past the goalie, who was then replaced by the Otters coach.

Fergus Falls knotted the game again in the third when the Pirates young line of Ben Andringa, Brock Heppner and Joey Doda couldn't clear their zone and the Otters crashed the net and got the puck past junior goalie Cade Salentine, who played one of his better games of the season, facing more than 30 shots on net.

With around 8 minutes left, Reinhart scored what proved to be the game-winner after a heavy Pirate forecheck and nice feed by Anderson. Reinhart, moving in alone out front, flipped a wrist shot past the goalie.

The home action continues for the Pirates on Saturday as they host Detroit Lakes. The puck drops for junior varsity at noon, and varsity at 2 p.m. in the CSC's Event Arena.
