The Golden Eagles take on the Bulldogs and Huskies Friday and Saturday at Lysaker Gymnasium.

    The University of Minnesota Crookston men’s and women’s basketball teams open their 2017 home schedules today (Friday) and Saturday against  pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rivals.


    The Golden Eagles take on the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs beginning at 6 p.m. tonight at UMC’s Lysaker Gymnasium.


    The St. Cloud State University Huskies come to town Saturday to battle UMC beginning at 4 p.m.

Men
    UMC enters tonight’s game with a 5-8 overall and 1-6 NSIC record.


    As a team, the Golden Eagles are shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 38.4 percent from beyond the arc and 71.5 percent at the free-throw line.


    Freshman guard Harrison Cleary continues to lead the squad with an average of 20.8 points-per-game while Gable Smith leads with 5.7 rebounds-per-game and Kobe Critchley is tallying 3.3 assists-per-game.


    UMD currently holds a 3-10 overall and 2-5 conference record.


    Altogether, the Bulldogs are shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from the 3-point range and 77.4 percent from the charity stripe.


    Freshman forward Luke Harris leads the team with 11.2 points-per-game, while teammate Brandon Myer averages 4.3 rebounds-per-game and sophomore guard Trevor Entwisle tallies 3.2 assists-per-game.


    St. Cloud State currently holds a 10-6 overall and 6-1 NSIC record.


    As a team, the Huskies are shooting  44.3 percent from the field, 38 percent from beyond the arc and 74.1 percent in free throws.


    Gage Davis leads the club with 20.8 points-per-game, 3.7 assists-per-game and 9.2 rebounds-per-game, while Scottie Stone averages 18.1 points-per-game.

    The Bulldogs are shooting 41.2 percent from the field, 38.4 percent from the 3-point range and 73.7 in free throws.


    The squad is led by Sammy Kozlowski, who is averaging 12.8 points-per-game and 4.4 assists-per-game.


    UMD teammate Taylor Meyer averages 11.6 points-per-game and leads the squad with 5.9 rebounds-per-game.


    St. Cloud State currently holds a 6-6 overall and 4-4 conference record as of Friday afternoon.
