The 16th annual West Polk County Relay for Life was held on Friday, June 14, 2013 at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. A number of Crookston area residents participated in the event and enjoyed various activities.

Sure, they called it a “Rhubarb Festival,” but in Trinity Lutheran Church’s Fellowship Hall Thursday, it was nothing less than rhubarb mania, as the Trinity Women of the ELCA hosted their annual fund-raiser. In addition to Trinity’s Festival Turkey Salad, there was rhubarb salad and many rhubarb desserts to choose from. There was also a bake sale, countless rhubarb recipes were shared, and Trinity Rhubarb Festival Cookbooks were available for purchase.

Enbridge, Inc., which operates several oil pipelines and oil pipeline terminals in Polk County and the region, converged on Central Park on Thursday to conduct required training in the event an oil spill reaches water. They utilized the Red Lake River.
