Ronald Craig Worsley, 78, of Crookston, Minnesota, died Friday morning, February 26, 2010, in the RiverView Nursing Home in Crookston. Ron was born in Fargo, North Dakota on April 7, 1931, one of eight children of the union of Craig and Louise (Skue) Worsley. He grew up in nearby Hunter, North Dakota and graduated from Hunter High School in 1948. Ron received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Moorhead (MN) State Teachers' College and then moved to Greenbush, Minnesota where he accepted his first teaching position. After a few years he came to Crookston and taught at the Franklin Elementary School. Ron's next position was with the Junior High School at Robbinsdale, Minnesota, a Twin Cities suburb. He later earned a Ph.D. from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and taught there, as well as, at Henry Ford Community College, in Dearborn, Michigan. In addition to his teaching duties Ron was also very active in the Drama Departments of each and every school system he was at. Directing plays, particularly one-act plays, was his abiding passion. He was also a very talented actor, taking part in many productions over the years. He had held a longstanding membership in the Robbinsdale Community Theater. After a very successful career in education spanning several decades, Ron retired in 1998, and eventually moved back to Crookston in 2004. He will be very sadly missed by his family and friends.
Left to mourn his passing is his sister, Mary Ann Carter of Sanford, MI; two brothers, Roger Worsley and his wife, Carolyn, of Cumming, GA, and John Worsley of Las Vegas, NV; an aunt and uncle, Jordyce and Jim Waxler of Crookston, MN; and several cousins and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Craig and Louise Worsley; brothers, Jerry, Russell, and William Worsley; and an infant brother. May God bless Ron's memory.
A memorial service for Ronald Craig Worsley will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 19, 2010, in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with The Rev. Jo Gast, officiating. Visitation with the family will be for one hour before the service. Notice of the service will be re-released again in June.
