Lyle Fering

Lyle O. Fering, 95, formerly of Devils Lake, ND, passed away Wednesday, 17 June 2009 at the Rose Medical Center in Denver, CO. 

Lyle was born on June 21, 1913 at Barton, North Dakota, the son of Otto and Thora (Jensen) Fering.   In the early 1920’s, Lyle moved with his family to Towner, ND where he graduated from high school in 1930.  He graduated from the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks where he was a charter member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.  Lyle was a veteran who served overseas in Australia and New Guinea during World War II.

In 1946 he moved to Esmond where he married Mayvis E. Lunde on August 5, 1949.  Lyle managed the bank in Esmond until 1957 when he accepted a position at the Crookston (MN) National Bank where he worked until 1967.  In 1967, he returned to North Dakota where he served as President of the Western State Bank of Devils Lake until his retirement in 1980.

Lyle is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Monica Fering, Cary, NC, his daughter Kristen Pine (Fred Kelly), Denver, CO, four grandchildren Kaia Pine (Thomas) Lee, O’Fallon, IL, Sara Fering (Slater) Bayliss, Tallahassee, FL, Louis Pine, Las Vegas , NV and John T. (Cassie) Fering, St. Louis, MO and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayvis, his parents and sister, Frances Langer, Seattle, WA.

A Memorial Service will be held in Devils Lake, ND at a later date.
