Evelyn Louise Lyngholm, 91, of Crookston, Minnesota, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, February 24, 2010 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston. Evelyn was born in Crookston on July 17, 1918, the daughter of Martin and Christina (Christianson) Gulseth. With her family she moved to St. Hilaire, Minnesota in the 1930’s. She graduated from St. Hilaire High School in 1937. She then moved back to Crookston, and on November 24, 1938, Evelyn was united in marriage to Lester W. Lyngholm in Crookston, where the couple made their home. Evelyn worked at several Crookston businesses over the years to include: Great Northern Restaurant; The Grill Café; Simon’s Office Supply; Ruettell’s Clothing; Miller Super Fair; Gamble’s; Moe’s Oil; Big A; and the Sweet Shop. In her later years, she worked as a housekeeper and in helping her friends in any way she could. Evelyn also volunteered her time at the Golden Link Senior Center helping with foot care. She was an active member of the Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and served with the Women’s Group for many years. Sadly, Lester passed away on December 11, 1971. Loving family members include a son, Robert (Ruth) Lyngholm of Rochester, MN; daughter, Karen (Keith) Plante of Crookston, MN; grandchildren, Peter L. Lyngholm and Thomas L. Lyngholm, both of Minneapolis, MN, Craig (Carol) Plante of Crookston, David Plante (special friend, Kent) of Minneapolis, Christopher (Mary Kay) Plante, Bryan (Beth) Plante, Jennifer Plante and Joshua (Heather) Plante, all of Crookston; great-grandchildren, Austin, Brandon, Cody, Camden, Aaron (special friend, Stefani), Jacob (Vanessa), Kelsey, Kalie, A.J., Ian, Cella Louise, Will and Janelle; a brother, Orville (Freda) Gulseth of Minneapolis; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Besides her husband, Lester, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Christina Gulseth; a great-great-grandson, Marik; brothers, Leslie and Maurice Gulseth (wife, Eloise); and a sister, Alice Wagner.
The funeral service for Evelyn Lyngholm will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Church of Christ (321 5th Ave. S.) in Crookston, MN. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home on Monday from 5-7:00 pm, with a 7:00 pm prayer service, and also for an hour before the funeral at the church.
