Lorraine Ethel Bratvold, 87, of Crookston, Minnesota, died early Sunday evening, January 10, 2010, in the RiverView Care Center in Crookston. Lorraine was born on May 2, 1922 at Huron, South Dakota, the daughter of Melvin and Elvira (McKinney) Bailey. As a young girl, her family made their home in Floodwood, Minnesota, where she grew up and graduated from high school. On October 24, 1945, Lorraine was united in marriage to Rev. Norman W. Bratvold. They eventually settled in Warren, Minnesota, and Lorraine was employed at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She devoted her life to her family and her church. Lorraine spent her days helping and supporting Norman in his church ministry, and making a home for her children-the jewels in her crown. She was a longtime member of Fargo and Warren Assembly of God Churches and was active in many roles. Lorraine will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to be a part of her life.
Loving family members include her children, Lucille (Theodor) John of Manheim, Germany, Wilma (Brian) Anderson of Hill City, SD, Ruth (Dale) Hulst of Crookston, MN, and James (Cheryll) Bratvold of Big Timber, MT; grandchildren, Karl John, Thomas John, Scott Anderson, Nathan Anderson, Brian Hulst and Kristi Hulst Morken; great-grandchild, Jaret Morken; siblings, Delbert (Lois) Bailey of Racine, WI and George (Terry) Bailey of Bloomington, MN; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Norman; parents, Melvin and Elvira Bailey; and a sister, Geneva Fagre.
The funeral service for Lorraine Bratvold will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 15, 2010 in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, with Pastor Brian Anderson, officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the funeral. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Warren, MN.
