BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Connecticut man accused of sending dozens of threatening letters to public officials including federal judges is in custody in North Dakota.
Bismarck police told The Bismarck Tribune they arrested 43-year-old Roland Prejean on Tuesday after he called and reported he was wanted.
FBI Special Agent Steve Warfield says Prejean is accused of sending about 75 signed letters during a cross-country trip, including some that allegedly contained baby powder that he referred to in the letters as anthrax.
Prejean, who also is known as Gary Gravelle, has requested a hearing on whether he will be extradited to Connecticut to face charges. He says he plans to act as his own attorney.
