MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Red Lake woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for fatally stabbing a 14-year-old boy in the heart, then assaulting a 17-year-old boy with a knife.
A jury convicted 19-year-old Patricia Ann Brown last December of one count of murder and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.
At sentencing Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Joan Ericksen called Brown ‘‘a danger to the community.’’
The U.S. Attorney’s office says evidence showed 14-year-old Jason May was leaving a gathering on the Red Lake Indian Reservation on April 12, 2009, when Brown stabbed him once in the heart, killing him.
Brown drove away and got into an altercation with two other teen boys, ages 16 and 17. Brown cut the 17-year-old’s hand, causing permanent damage.
