Mildred Josephine Hesby, 93, a longtime Crookston, Minnesota resident, died Wednesday morning, January 20, 2010, at the Halstad Living Center in Halstad, Minnesota. Mildred was born on October 23, 1916, on the rural Nielsville, Minnesota farm of her parents, Louis and Maren (Aasness) Hesby. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Petri Lutheran Church in Nielsville and graduated from Nielsville High School. In 1956 Mildred moved from the family farm to Crookston, where she was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Bethesda Nursing Home from 1956 until retirement in 1975. In March, 2006 she became a resident of the Halstad Living Center. Mildred was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston. She will long be remembered for her kindness and compassion. She was a very humble lady and never wanted to be the center of attention, but was always ready to help others in any way she could. Mildred will be very lovingly missed.
Mildred leaves a Godchild, Joy Jennifer (Skalet) Grove of Mims, FL; special friends, Keith and Brenda Skalet of Mims; and many others who shared in her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Maren. May God bless Mildred’s memory.
The funeral service for Mildred Hesby will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 30, 2010, in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, with the Rev. Jo Gast, officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the funeral. Interment will be take place in the St. Petri Cemetery, Nielsville, in the spring.
