BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Bail has been set at $1,000 cash for a woman charged with manslaughter in a fatal crash that authorities say happened after she fell asleep while driving a cement truck.
Mary Agnes Greff of Bismarck also is charged with felony reckless endangerment in the Sept. 26 crash that killed Jeffrey Burgess of Bismarck.
Authorities say the 43-year-old Greff lost control of the cement truck on U.S. Highway 83 and the truck hit the pickup driven by Burgess. The 56-year-old Burgess died at the scene.
Greff's attorney, Thomas Dickson, recommended the $1,000 bail, which was later posted.
Greff said in court Tuesday that she was dismissed from her truck driving job after the crash.
Authorities said the reckless endangerment charges relate to injuries to two passengers in the pickup and the fact that three other drivers had to swerve to avoid getting hit.
