GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A University of North Dakota airplane made a safe emergency landing after oil blew onto the windshield during takeoff.

University spokesman Juan Pedraza says the student and onboard flight instructor did not want to take any chances Wednesday afternoon and returned to the Grand Forks airport in the interest of safety.

Pedraza says the oil came from residue on sheet metal that covers the engine, and that maintenance crews found no mechanical problems with the plane.
