The latest National Weather Service hydrological outlook for spring flooding in the Red River Basin, released Friday, continues to project a low chance of a severe flood of the Red Lake River in Crookston.

Friday’s outlook includes an 88 percent chance of minor flooding in Crookston, an 11 percent chance of moderate flooding, and a 4 percent chance of a major flood, or a crest that reaches 25 feet.

The previous outlook included a 5 percent chance of a major flood of the Red Lake River.

The numbers continue to be more ominous to the south and along the Red River. In  Grand Forks, there’s a 65 percent chance of a major flooding and, in Fargo, there’s a 96 percent chance.
