Hospice of the Red River Valley is breaking from the cantata format of its previous 11 “Light Up a Life” concerts this year, instead going with Christmas music performed by local musicians. The concert will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. The concert is open to the public, with free will donations benefiting Hospice RRV.

Crookston Area Men's Choir, the Praise Singers, Presbyterian Bells of Praise and Reid Froiland  will perform at the benefit concert. The event, according to planner Nancy Thomasson, “celebrates the lives of the many people that Hospice has served.”

Following the concert, the Villa St. Vincent Foundation will serve a soup and bread supper along with other refreshments. All are welcome to this as well.

The “Light Up a Life Tree” located outside the Villa St. Vincent is a joint venture of Hospice RRV and the Villa St. Vincent Auxiliary, she explained. “Each light on the tree represents the memory of a loved one who was served by Hospice. The tree will be illuminated throughout the holiday season.”

Project organizer Bev Brekken said funds raised through this project help Hospice RRV projects as well aa Villa and Summit residents.

The concert is held in conjunction with the Hospice National “Light Up a Life” celebration. Similar celebrations are held throughout the country during the same week as a way of acknowledging and honoring families and friends who have had direct involvement with hospice care.
