BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Attorneys have agreed on a schedule to speed up the appeal of a lawsuit about whether the University of North Dakota will continue using its Fighting Sioux athletics nickname.

The lawyers say they'll be ready for North Dakota Supreme Court arguments by March 22. The justices will review the agreement later.

A group of eight Spirit Lake Sioux tribal members want UND to keep the nickname, and they're suing the board to delay any change. They say the Board of Higher Education should wait until Nov. 30 before making any decisions.

A district judge threw out the lawsuit, and the Spirit Lake tribal members are appealing. The Board of Higher Education has decided to delay any action until the court case is resolved.
