The Crookston Early Childhood Initiative (CECI) has named Dahlgren & Company Inc. a “Champion For Early Childhood” through the commitment they have made to the young children, and their families, in our community.
Dahlgren’s was one of the first to make a donation toward the new early childhood playground that has been purchased for Washington School through the CECI’s “Play It Forward” campaign. The CECI has plans to add new playground equipment at several other sites in the next three years including the Evergreen Estates Park and the Crookston Sports Center.
After the early childhood programs moved to Washington School last year, one of the biggest challenges is a playground that is not age appropriate or developmentally friendly for the youngest children. Through a grant from Midwest Playscapes and help from the CECI’s Play It Forward committee, $15,000 has been secured to purchase the equipment. Dahlgren’s donation will go toward the remaining $7,000 of funding needed for site preparation, installation, curbing, and ground cover.
