Recently, there has been a lot of media and research about the importance of fathers and adult male role models in children’s lives. This buzz, along with the successful 2009 Gala for Girls: An Evening on the Red Carpet event helped in the creation of the 2nd Annual Gala for Girls: Girls Rock.

The event will be held on Friday, Jan. 29 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Crookston. (Note the date change due to the festivities associated with the dedication and grand opening of the new Crookston Sports Center on Jan. 30.)

This star-studded event is for girls in grades K-6 and their dad, uncle, grandpa or other adult male role model.

For $35 the couple can enjoy a souvenir photo, a sit-down dinner, a flower and special gift, and an evening of memorable dancing to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Registration opens today, Monday, Nov. 30. Registration forms are available at Montague’s Flower Shop, by calling Sarah Reese at 281.3385 or at www.pcphealth.org.

Registration is limited so register early. The first 15 paid registrations will be included in a drawing for a free chauffeured ride to and from the event.

Calling all moms, grandmas, aunts! Give the perfect holiday present by giving the gift of time to that special someone by purchasing them tickets to the Gala for Girls.

The Gala for Girls is sponsored by the Polk County Child Abuse Prevention Council/Parents Helping Parents along with many community volunteers.
