GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The administrator of the Grand Forks County jail says the facility is prepared to once again take inmates from Fargo if spring flooding forces evacuations from the state's largest city.
Last year, the Grand Forks County Correctional Center housed 65 inmates from Fargo. Administrator Bret Burkholder says the jail is willing to take as many as it can without jeopardizing operations.
The Grand Forks jail can hold 242 inmates.
Capt. Carlos Perez, who oversees the Cass County jail, says in a worst-case flooding scenario, Fargo inmates also would be sent to lockups in Rugby, Jamestown and possibly Devils Lake.
