The 2010 Miss Crookston Scholarship Pageant will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20 in the Crookston High School Auditorium. Several former Miss Crookstons are set to appear in celebration of the anniversary. Tickets for the annual pageant, the 20th straight one in its current format, will go on sale for $8 apiece at noon Tuesday, Aug. 17 in the CHS Commons, with a maximum of eight per person.

The Times will feature profiles of each of the 10 Miss Crookston  candidates, all CHS seniors, through Wednesday.

Jaclyn Proulx
Q: First of all, some background info: Your family – parents, siblings, dogs, cats, etc.; your talent; and your sponsors
A: My parents are Bob and Jenny Proulx. My siblings are Kate and her husband Matt Winjum, Laura, Kris, Kurtis, Nick and our beloved dog Case. I will be performing a piano solo. My sponsor is Rhombus Guys, owned by Arron Hendricks and Matt Winjum.
 
Q: What activities are you involved in at school and elsewhere? Have you received any awards or special recognition for your accomplishments?
A: I am involved in tennis, choir, Leo Club and True Players.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I like to play tennis, walk dogs, spend time at the lake, and watch movies with my family and friends.
 
Q: What are your plans after high school, and how do you see yourself in ten years?
A: I plan to attend a University where I will achieve a four year degree in agriculture or animal sciences. In ten years, I see myself having graduated college, in a career that I love, possibly married and traveling.

Q: Tell us about your platform.
A: My platform is Pet Ownership Responsibility; it's about raising awareness to pet owners and everything that is involved when deciding to get a pet.

Q: What do you hope to take away from the Miss Crookston experience?
A: I hope to have had a wonderful time with all of the other girls involved, to have gained self confidence, and to improve my communication skills. Overall to have had a great experience

Michelle Stahlecker
Q: First of all, some background info: Your family – parents, siblings, dogs, cats, etc.; your talent; and your sponsors.
A: My parents are Trent and Kathy Stahlecker, I have one sister, her name is Kayla and she is 11 years old. I also have three dogs, Jackson, Tobi, and Thunder. My grandparents are Harley and Peggy Stahlecker from Crookston and Elenore Narloch from Minto, ND. The talent I will perform on Friday is singing and dancing to a song from the movie Chicago. I would like to thank Happy Joes for sponsoring me.
 
Q: What activities are you involved in at school and elsewhere? Have you received any awards or special recognition for your accomplishments?
A: During the school year I am involved in Tennis, Hockey, One Act Play, Spring Play/Musical, True Players, Leo Club, Prom Committee, Yearbook Staff, Band, and teaching RE at my church. I have lettered in Tennis, Hockey, One Act, Spring Play, and Band, also I have been on the Honor roll.
 
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: In my spare time I like to hang out with my friends, go rollerblading, play tennis with friends and my dad, paint, pottery/sculpture, take pictures, shopping, cook/bake, and play with my dogs.
 
Q: What are your plans after high school, and how do you see yourself in ten years?
A: My plans after High School are still undecided, but I do plan on attending a 4 year college. In ten years I see myself graduated from college, having my own business in photography, and starting a family of my own.
 
Q: Tell us about your platform.
A: My platform is titled "Love Your Life: Suicide Prevention." I chose this for my platform because this is a very serious topic that should never be ignored. It is a topic that means a lot, not only to me but someone who has lost a loved one or a friend to this cause.
 
Q: What do you hope to take away from the Miss Crookston experience?
A: I want to get closer and closer to all the girls that are in it. All of the girls in Miss Crookston this year are very talented and I think it will be a very good show. We all get along so well at practice and we are always laughing. I'm so happy that I got to have this experience and I hope for the best!

Kaylee Reierson
Q: First of all, some background info: Your family – parents, siblings, dogs, cats, etc.; your talent; and your sponsors.
A: My parents are Guy and Karen, I have two older brothers, Brent and Brandon. I also have two dogs. My grandparents are ReJeanne and Everrett Anderson and Marvin Reierson. For my talent I will be dancing. My sponsor is Crookston Daily Times.
 
Q: What activities are you involved in at school and elsewhere? Have you received any awards or special recognition for your accomplishments?
A: I am involved in volleyball and marching band Treasurettes. I have lettered in academics and volleyball.
 
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: In my spare time I enjoy going to the lake, baking and shopping.
 
Q: What are your plans after high school, and how do you see yourself in ten years?
A: After high school I plan on attending college, but I am undecided on what college. In ten years hopefully I am married and have a good paying job.
 
Q: Tell us about your platform.
A: My platform is on peer pressure, to just be yourself, to not follow the crowd and that your true friends will accept you for who you are.
 
Q: What do you hope to take away from the Miss Crookston experience?
A:  I hope to make some great memories and spending time and having fun with my classmates.
 
Krystina Rasmussen
Q: First of all, some background info: Your family – parents, siblings, dogs, cats, etc.; your talent; and your sponsors.
A: I'm Krystina Rasmussen. My parents are Bill and Meloni Rasmussen. I have 3 sisters and a brother-in-law, JaNae and Mike Staples, who got married last August, and Kayla, and Jamee. My sponsor is Titan Machinery and I am singing and playing guitar for my talent. I picked that for my talent because it is something that I enjoy but also challenges me.

Q: What activities are you involved in at school and elsewhere? Have you received any awards or special recognition for your accomplishments?
A: I am involved in volleyball and basketball. I am also involved in Leo Club, student council, pop choir, choir, band, True Players, and the spring musical. I also made National Honor Society this year.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I really enjoy reading, I read all the time, playing guitar, and spending time with my family.

Q: What are your plans after high school, and how do you see yourself in ten years?
A: I want to go to college somewhere in the twin cities and major in child psychology, and eventually get my Ph D.

Q: Tell us about your platform.
A: My platform is entitled "There is no I in team, but there is U in volunteer." I basically want to get the word out to young adults about the importance volunteering has on not only their community but also on the world. I really want to emphasize that one person no matter what their age can make a difference.

Q: What do you hope to take away from the Miss Crookston experience?
A: I hope to take away from this experience a new confidence about myself and I really just want to have fun.
