Mrs. Jenson's and Mrs. Oman's kindergarten classes at Washington School got together Friday to have a "Souper Bowl" Party, a service learning project in which students brought in cans or boxes of soup and other food and learning what it meant to help others in need. They talked about why it's important to help others, where the food would be going and how we could continue to help others outside of school. The teachers hope that these service learning projects will introduce students early on to the role they can play in their community and encourage a life-long participation. They also tallied and graphed the different kinds of food brought in, graphed their game day predictions and participated in some fun football-centered activities. The kindergarteners correctly predicted, for the second year in a row, the outcome of the game.

It's 'I Love to Read Month' in February, and students from Highland Elementary School are
celebrating. They are participating in activities throughout February, including daily book “commercials” and free book drawings, as well as special events each Friday.
