Crookston School District Superintendent Wayne Gilman announced this afternoon that, after a water line break and subsequent damage to portions of Crookston High School on Labor Day, the school will be ready for the first day of classes on Thursday. Things are dry enough after clean-up and steam cleaning to move furniture back, and the school is clean and safe for students and staff to return.
In his instant alert message at mid-afternoon, the superintendent thanked everyone for their patience and understanding.
Gilman discovered the water line break under a utility room on the building's east side at around 7 a.m. Monday. The city shut off the water and staff spent much of the holiday cleaning up the wet, muddy mess, which was confined to the east hallway and adjacent offices. Temporary water service has since been established to the building.
