The second season of Wednesday Night Lights, a weekly hockey instruction class offered at no cost to children in grades 1 through 8, kicked off Wednesday afternoon in the new CSC’s Blue Arena. Jeff Perreault, former Crookston Pirate boys’ head coach who coordinates the program, said a total of 52 kids were registered and participated in the opening session. All the needed gear, from gloves to helmet to stick, is provided at no cost thanks to donations from the community. Hockey players from the Parks and Recreation and Crookston High School programs also help the promising athletes learn about the game.
