Funds will make it possible to reopen second bathroom
American Crystal Sugar Company has made a donation to the Care and Share homeless shelter of Crookston for $5,000.
The Care and Share currently has approximately 22 men who share one bathroom with two sinks, two stools and two showers. The plan for the donation is to reopen another bathroom with two sinks, two urinals, one stool and one shower.
“Those at the Care and Share are so grateful for the support from American Crystal Sugar, which allows the Care and Share to meet the basic needs of individuals and families who find themselves homeless,” said Care and Share Board member Tom Anderson. “Also, this last summer, American Crystal Sugar gifted the Care and Share $1,000 to pay for the labor to sheetrock and tape a large classroom into a new dorm, now housing nine men who are homeless.”
The Care and Share will also hold their 2nd Annual Progressive Dinner fundraiser on Sunday, December 16 starting at 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by a stop at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 6 p.m. and finishing at Wesley United Methodist Church at 6:45 p.m.
The benefit will include a silent auction and wine raffle.
