Residents of south Crookston reported seeing a bear over the weekend. Shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, a Crookston Police officer observed the black bear in a tree near Tuttle Avenue between South Minnesota and Carroll streets. The bear was left alone and when the officer returned a couple hours later, it was gone.

The CPD reminds residents to keep garbage, pet food, bird food, etc. inside. It’s possible that bears are searching for food more than ever right now, with hibernation nearing.

If you see the bear, don’t approach it. The CPD prefers that people not go looking for it, either.
