The driver of the vehicle is cited for failure to yield.

Bobby Baird, who sits in one of the at large seats on the Crookston City Council, was taken to RiverView Health's Emergency Room Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a downtown street.

The Crookston Police Department reports that the extent of Baird's injuries is not known.

The call came in minutes before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers and Crookston Area Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the intersection of North Broadway and East Robert Street on the report of a vehicle/pedestrian accident. According to the CPD, Baird was walking westbound in the crosswalk at the intersection when he was struck by a 2008 Saturn Vue driven westbound by Tia Johnson of Crookston and turning onto North Broadway.

Johnson was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
