Create new opportunities while advancing your skills as part of our NWMAC Teaching Artist Roster Program

Create new opportunities while advancing your skills as part of our NWMAC Teaching Artist Roster Program

The Teaching Artist Roster Program (TARP) is a seven-session training designed to support artists (visual, performing, writing, media, fine art) in refining and developing skills for conducting collaborative, in-depth arts learning experiences in organizations, community settings and schools. A small cohort of artists will be selected to participate in this training, conducted by our Training Specialist and guest peer coaches contracted by Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC).

Artists who complete the program are listed on the NWMAC Teaching Artist Roster. This roster will be used by area schools to select qualified artists in residencies in the years to come and support the activity with grant funds from our office. Special designated funding exists for schools to sponsor artists on the NWMAC Teaching Roster.

The deadline to apply is August 15 to participate in this round of our training series. There are 7 training sessions. Applicants must commit to attend all 7 sessions.  Priority will be given to residents of our seven-county service area. There is no cost to attend and the value of this experience is equivalent to a $500 grant!

There is an info session on August 7 at 3 pm at the NWMAC office in Warren to learn more about this program and work on your application in an environment where you can easily ask questions. Please RSVP to director@NWArtsCouncil.org or call 218-745-9111.

To apply go to the NWMAC’s online system at NorthwestMinnesotaArtsCouncil.org and click into the word login in the upper right corner, register, and complete the Teaching Artist Roster application. Training dates will be in September and October 2018 and are listed in the application. There are two cohorts running simultaneously -- one based out of our office in Warren and another at the library in Roseau, as well as a few sessions where both groups meet together online.
