The Otto Bremer Trust has awarded $8,802,246 in grants and one program-related investment as part of its most recent grantmaking cycle. In the latest round of allocations is a $22,317 to be invested in increased security measures to ensure a safe environment for shelter clients in the Crookston area.

    “These investments continue our ongoing support of communities and organizations in the Upper Midwest,” said Brian Lipschultz, co-CEO and trustee, OBT.

    The Otto Bremer Trust, based in St. Paul, Minn., is a private charitable trust established in 1944 by founder Otto Bremer, a successful banker and community business leader. OBT owns 92 percent of Bremer Bank and also manages a diversified investment portfolio. The mission of OBT is to invest in people, places, and opportunities in the Upper Midwest. Since its inception, OBT has invested more than $600 million in organizations throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, and western Wisconsin.

    • Lakes & Prairies Community Action Partnership, Inc., Moorhead, MN, $117,574. For general operations to support the provision of a wide array of anti-poverty programs and technology improvements in Clay and Wilkin Counties in West Central Minnesota.
    • Mahnomen Health Center, Mahnomen, MN, $50,000. To replace outdated equipment to provide better access to care and improve the quality of care at Mahnomen Health Center.
    • White Earth Land Recovery Project, Callaway, MN, $40,000. For general operations to ensure community wellness and program support for food security.

Northern Minnesota
    • Avivo, Minneapolis, MN, $100,000. To help underserved populations build skills needed to succeed in postsecondary education, secure employment, and increase their earning potential.
    • Cuyuna Range Youth Center, Inc., Crosby, MN, $25,000. For general operations to provide out-of-school programming for youth in Crosby-Ironton and surrounding small towns.
    • Greater Minnesota Worker Center, Saint Cloud, MN, $25,000. For general operations to support low-wage workers, facilitate employment of immigrants, and increase the economy in Central MN.

Greater Minnesota Worker Center, Saint Cloud, MN, $50,000. To provide youth development and family education programs to East Africans in the La Cruz Community Center and the surrounding neighborhood in St. Cloud.

Kindred Family Focus, Plymouth, MN, $55,000. To expand the availability of foster/adoptive homes in central Minnesota, addressing the current critical shortage of available placements in the foster care system.

Mid-Minnesota Legal Assistance, Minneapolis, MN, $75,000. To support stability for survivors of severe domestic violence and human trafficking by providing wraparound civil legal services to victims in Stearns County.

New Pathways, Inc., Cambridge, MN, $100,000. For general operations to assist families experiencing homelessness with basic needs, case management, and life skills training to help them find and maintain long-term housing.

Riverview Church, Pine River, MN, $25,000. To provide youth with skills and opportunities that help them engage successfully with their community.

Volunteers of America-Minnesota, Edina, MN, $55,000. To provide housing and wrap-around supportive services for previously homeless families who have a family member with a chronic disability.
