Extension, NWROC staff also spotlighted

    In celebration of excellence and service by University of Minnesota Crookston faculty and staff, the annual Faculty and Staff Day was this week in Brown Dining Room. Retirements were recognized by the University of Minnesota Crookston, Extension, and the Northwest Research and Outreach Center.

    Retirees included Marsha Odom, associate professor, Liberal Arts and Education Department; Deb Zak, community relations and outreach director, Extension; Dan Svedarsky, professor, Agriculture and Natural Resources Department; Carol Larson, buildings and grounds, Facilities and Operations; Barbara Keinath, vice chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs; Paul Aakre, assistant professor, Agriculture and Natural Resources Department; and Dale Kopecky, Northwest Research and Outreach Center.

    Years of Service were highlighted by individuals who have been working on campus and in Extension for 40 years or more. They are Marlene LeBlanc and Gary Willhite, who were recognized for 40 years of service and Sharon Stewart, who was recognized for 45 years.

    In addition to recognizing years of service milestones and retirements, the program included the following award presentations:

    • Distinguished Teaching Award ‐ Rob Proulx, lecturer, Agriculture and Natural Resources Department

    • Distinguished Faculty Service Award – Margot Rudstrom, lecturer, Agriculture and Natural Resources Department

    • Distinguished Staff Service Award ‐ Kelsey Torgerson, education program associate, Academic Success Center

    • Distinguished Scholar Award – Kristie Walker, associate professor, Agriculture and Natural Resources Department

    • Distinguished Professional & Administrative (P&A) Award ‐ Kim Gillette, director, International Programs, Confucius Institute, and Learning Abroad

    • Access Achievement Award – Kelsey Torgerson, education program associate, Academic Success Center and Matthew Simmons, associate professor, Agriculture and Natural Resources Department

    • Builder of Diversity Award – Rae French, learning abroad advisor, International Programs, Learning Abroad
