During Women’s History Month, the University of Minnesota Crookston honored “their own” with a reception Tuesday for notable women who have persisted to provide leadership and service to the institution and community.

Honorees included Mary Holz-Clause, Barbara Keinath, Soo-Yin Lim-Thompson, and Lisa Samuelson, and UMC’s Women’s Commission hosted the event.

During their speeches, Keinath referenced “Men and Women of the Corporation” by Rosabeth Moss Kanter and taught the audience about “A Tale of O” which symbolizes the “odd” person out, Holz-Clause shared a story of how she once had to fight for the right to be included, Lim-Thompson brought the room to tears talking about how her mother persisted, and Samuelson made everyone laugh when she said she was told she might be “too opinionated.”

Following the reception, a book club discussion of “Bad Feminist” was held.
