The victim of the house fire has been identified as 40-year-old Immanuel LaRochelle

A 40-year-old Crookston man is the victim of the house fire that started early Sunday morning. Immanuel LaRochelle resided in the home at 214 4th Avenue North and was the only person in the home at the time of the fire, says Crookston Police Chief Paul Biermaier.

"It’s believed the smoke detectors in the home, at the time of the fire, were not operational," explained Biermaier. "Preliminary indications are that the fire was accidental and caused the death of LaRochelle."

Final autopsy results are pending and the incident is still under investigation with the assistance of the State Fire Marshal, Biermaier added.
