Jagol found with vehicle stuck in ditch

A Fertile man is in custody and faces numerous charges in connection with an early morning law enforcement pursuit on Tuesday, Feb. 27 that reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Aaron Dean Jagol, 27, is jailed at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston. He’s charged with fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, DWI, domestic assault, interfering with emergency communications, open bottle, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to information provided by the PCSO.

The PCSO says the incident began to unfold around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies tried to stop a vehicle driven by a suspect in a domestic assault reported earlier. Deputies had also been told that the driver was intoxicated.

The stop was attempted on 120th Avenue SW near Fertile and the pursuit commenced at speeds between 30 and 40 mph. As the vehicle continued west of Fertile and eventually headed south into Norman County, it reached speeds in excess of 100 mph. The pursuit continued for around eight miles before law enforcement backed off because of icy roads and foggy conditions.

Soon after, a Norman County deputy found the vehicle and Jagol stuck in a ditch around four miles south of where the pursuit was called off, the PCSO reports.

    Ada Police also assisted.
