The Crookston High School Speech Team had its first varsity meet of the year on Saturday, January 28 in Fergus Falls. It was a great showcasing of our talented pool of students. Usually, throughout the season, there are three rounds of competition, at which time the results are tallied to determine overall placements. In Fergus Falls, however, the team experienced an extra level of competition, which included an honors round and a finals round.

Crookston finished 8th overall out 23 teams.

In the Honors/Final rounds, Linnea French took first in Dramatic Interpretation; Muira MacRae took second place in Discussion; Katherine Geist and Victoria Proulx each took third, in Dramatic Interpretation and Humorous Interpretation, respectively; Proulx took fourth in Storytelling; Bailey Bradford, Merran Dingmann and Zach Sanders, and Zara Baig each took fifth in Creative Expression, Duo Interpretation, and Humorous Interpretation, respectively; Emily Gillette and Ben Brantner each took sixth in Dramatic Interpretation and Creative Expression, respectively; and, Emma Sherman took eighth in Informative Speaking.
