Noise appears to be fireworks, not gunshots
Two calls to Crookston Police from Sampson’s Addition on Sunday, New Year’s Eve, that generated some questions and concern from Crookston residents on social media didn’t amount to much, CPD Chief Paul Biermaier tells the Times.
Late that morning, officers responded to a report that turned out to involve someone apparently shooting off fireworks. On social media, a neighborhood resident wondered if gunshots were being fired, but two people nearby told the responding officer they believed the noise involved fireworks.
Later Sunday night, around 9 p.m., Biermaier says three CPD squads responded to an unrelated report of a “suspicious person” in the same neighborhood, on Pleasant Avenue, “but that didn’t turn into anything,” he adds.
