They surpassed their goal of 30 people and 36 units of blood by hosting 40 people and 49 units of blood for United Blood Services.

The 5th Annual Blood Drive in memory of Cheryl Steinbrink, a Crookston woman who passed away in 2012 after complications following back surgery, brought in big numbers Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Jenn Walz, Steinbrink’s daughter, and co-owner of This is Sew Broadway in Crookston with her dad, Robin, says that they surpassed their goal of 30 people and 36 units of blood by hosting 40 people and 49 units of blood for United Blood Services.

“Thank you to everyone who was able to join us today for a very successful blood drive in memory of my mom!” said Walz on social media following the event.

The first annual memorial blood drive began in 2013 as a way of “giving back” in honor of Cheryl, who had received numerous units of donated blood while she was in the hospital.
