Initiative makes sure kids get some good food over the weekends

American Crystal Sugar Company has awarded Fisher Public Schools “Buddy Backpack Program” a check for $5,000 to help with the purchase of food for the launch of this program.

This program will provide nutritious, nonperishable, child-friendly food items to students who are at risk of going hungry over the weekends due to various reasons.  This program will benefit children greatly.

Statistics have shown improved learning ability, attention span and behaviors at the schools as a result of having a program like this in place.  This program will provide food for students, so they can return to school on Monday morning ready to learn.

Fisher Public Schools mission statement is to educate all learners to their greatest potential, prepare them for the future and inspire a passion of lifelong learning.  American Crystal supports this mission and hopes this grant will help to assist with the start-up of this very needed program.
