VFW, Legion, DAV, their auxiliaries and BYR of Crookston team up to coordinate events

Crookston VFW Post #1902, American Legion Post #20, the Disabled American Veterans and all three of their auxiliaries are teaming up with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Crookston for several activities throughout Veterans Day week in Crookston.

It gets underway on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m., when the huge Veterans Day program will take place in the Highland School gymnasium. Students are asked to invite relatives who have served so they can be recognized, and another highlight is a flag-folding ceremony.

On Friday, Nov. 10 at 9:30 a.m., a Veterans Day program will take place in the Cathedral School gym.

On actual Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, everyone is invited to the Military Veterans Memorial at 10 a.m. to participate in a bike/walk/roll on the new Veterans Memorial Loop made possible by the completion of the new Fairfax trail this past summer. An hour later, at 11 a.m., the Laying of the Wreath ceremony conducted by the Veterans Council of Crookston will take place at the VFW. Later that evening, beginning with a 6 p.m. social, the Veterans Day Dinner will be held at the Crookston VFW. The dinner and program will begin at 6:30 p.m. All veterans and their spouses are welcome. The meal is co-hosted by the VFW, Legion, DAV, their auxiliaries, and BYR of Crookston.

Veterans Day week activities will conclude on Monday, Nov. 13 at 8:30 a.m. with Bill and Jamie Cassavant conducting a reading of the “America’s White Table” book at Our Savior’s Lutheran School.
