Jason Nelson, a 36-year-old from Nielsville, is identified as the victim who died in the crash.

    A truck hauling sugar beets on Highway 75 south of Climax Tuesday morning was rear-ended by an SUV while it was stopped to make a turn, and the driver of the SUV was killed, the Minnesota State Patrol reports.

    Jason Nelson, a 36-year-old from Nielsville, is identified as the victim who died in the crash.

    The State Patrol got the call at approximately 6:52 a.m. Tuesday from Highway 75 at its intersection with 410th St. SW in Hubbard Township of Polk County.

    According to the incident report, the 1993 GMC tractor-trailer was being driven by Dalton Brian Fredrickson, 21, of Thief River Falls. He was northbound on Highway 75 and was stopped in order to turn west onto 410th St. SW. The 1999 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Nelson was also northbound on Highway 75 and struck the rear of the GMC.

    The State Patrol says Nelson was not wearing his seat belt.

    Fredrickson was not injured.
