A teenager has died after he was found unresponsive in a North Dakota State University residence hall.

The university says campus police were notified about a 17-year-old male who was unresponsive at Sevrinson Hall shortly after noon Sunday.

KFGO says emergency medical services were dispatched, but live-saving efforts were unsuccessful. Officials say the teen was not a student at the university.

The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is the lead agency into what caused the teen's death.

Reports indicate he was a high school student from the Twin Cities metro area who was spending the weekend with a friend at NDSU.
