“Community Paddle” events are coming once again to Crookston’s Central Park.

Crookston’s events will take place on Friday, Sept. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

These are free events and all equipment is provided. Everyone is invited to celebrate and connect with Crookston’s waterway, the Red Lake River.

Similar Community Paddle events will take place in Thief River Falls on Sept. 11 and East Grand Forks on Sept. 12.

This year marks a celebration of 50 years of the Red Lake River as a state designated water trail. Similar to last year’s events, Wilderness Inquiry, a Minneapolis-based adventure company, will take passengers on their 10-passenger canoes along with the International Water Institute helping to facilitate with the Red Lake Watershed District, Northwest Minnesota Foundation, Polk County Wellness Coalition, SHIP, and DNR.

Altru Safe Kids will also be providing reduced-rate life jackets for sale and free picnics will be provided at select events.
