Prizes awarded last week, and more prizes can still be won for kids who keep on reading

The Crookston Public Library’s 2017 Summer Reading Program concluded last Tuesday with a magic show and prizes being awarded to participating kids.

“We had four amazing sponsors this summer,” said Tammy Thomasson. They included The Matrons Club of Crookston, Hardware Hank, The Friends of the Library, and the Crookston Alliance for Literacy and Learning (CALL).

“We had eight programs focusing on the theme Build A Better World with a total of 1,086 participants total,” Thomasson reports. “So far this summer, 207 reading sheets have been turned in. We are thrilled with the level of community support and participation in this crucial reading program.”

Thomasson said kids can continue to turn in reading sheets through August 31 to win prizes from the "prize basket.”

Prizes awarded last Tuesday included two Kindle Fires donated by the Matrons Club of Crookston, with Joy Bubna and Jasmine Perala being the winners. Also the winner of the boy’s bike donated by Hardware Hank was Ethan Lanctot. The winner of the girl’s bike purchased by the Friends of the Library was Lauren Tull.
